Meet your business credit card support team

April 21, 2021

Guidance for business credit cards is readily available. Here’s how U.S. Bank experts can assist you each step of the way.

Starting and managing your business has many components, but fortunately you don’t have to do it alone. Utilizing available resources can ease the process, and banking professionals are equipped to offer guidance from the moment you apply for a business credit card. Here are some of the experts you can rely on throughout the process.

Business banking specialists

If you’re in the process of applying for or setting up your business credit card, a business banking specialist (BBS) can facilitate this process as your go-to contact. “They could help add signers and answer any questions when it comes to the cards,” says Mark Patterson, vice president and high value business card team manager at U.S. Bank.

The BBS can also advise on what would be best for the business’ cash flow, and how this would benefit company operations. “The BBS deals with businesses all day long and sees how they’re structured,” adds Mark. “Their 100% focus is driving new business, taking care of and continuing to expand that relationship as business grows.”

Additionally, if you have concerns about your credit – which is a key step in credit card approval – a BBS can provide high-level advice without delving into the specifics of a credit report. “What they would probably do is suggest getting a secured personal card, like the U.S. Bank Secured Visa ® Card, to move some of the expenses that you were using on a debit card,” says Mark. When you move expenses from a debit card to your business credit card, you can start earning rewards.

Local branch managers

Another one of the primary individuals who can advocate for you when setting up your business credit card is a local branch manager. Branch managers are well-versed in all banking processes and are able to assist with setting up a card and answering questions, similar to a BBS. The branch manager has a broader role with less focus on business specifically, but they can offer general support.

According to Timothy Menoher, vice president of high value business card sales and acquisitions at U.S. Bank, the branch manager is always ready to consult and help you learn more about the process. They’ll work with you to find solutions that work for your business as a whole. “They can really help guide you, not just from a card standpoint, but any credit solution that you might need,” he says.

“The branch manager wears a lot of hats,” adds Mark. “They’re geared towards coaching their employees, but they still have that skill set of walking business customers through setting up an account or setting up a business credit card.”

Cardmember services

Once you have your business credit card successfully set up, you can rely on Cardmember Services for maintenance and ongoing support at any time. Cardmember Services can help with fraud and set up any third-party expense software your business may need, and a majority of this can be done over the phone.

While you can also contact your BBS or local branch manager, Cardmember Services is a convenient option for immediate assistance, and for those who prefer not to go into a brick-and-mortar branch. These specialists can be reached at 1-800-285-8585.
